It's the middle of summer; hipsters are sitting on their loft porches, drinking their PBR's and listening to their version of the 2009 summer soundtrack. Fast forward to December and one of those songs is still being played on repeat: YACHT's "Psychic City".

Arguably the Portland duo's most playfully poppy and joyous beat, "Psychic City" is a step in another direction for a band that is more comfortable with a muddled, off-center electronic bombardment.

As the song gains steam, so to does the swagger of Claire Evans' talk-singing and the contagious yet extremely simple rhythmic push of Jona Bechtolt. "Psychic City" is the love child and glimpse into the future of a band that has come together and meshed so perfectly in a little over a year. It's song that grabs your attention and forces you to notice a band that seems likely to be around for many more of these lists in the years to come.
